Old Yadvindrians: The Old Yadvindrians Association, a body of former students of Yadvindra Public School (YPS), plan to have a major show at their annual re-union dance and dinner scheduled for December 23 at the school campus at Mohali. A laser show with graphics will be held and “Scorpions” a dance troupe of Delhi, will perform.

Award for scribes
: In a move to encourage journalists for writing on agriculture and allied fields, the Haryana Agricultural University authorities have instituted a state-level Agriculture Journalism Award. Disclosing this here on Tuesday, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr J.C. Katyal, said the award would carry a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a citation, he added.

Arrested: The police has arrested three proclaimed offenders, including a father-son duo, in connection with different cases. According to the Hansi City police Darshan Sethi and his son Nitin have been arrested in connection with a case of attempt to murder. They had recently been declared proclaimed offenders. The local Sardar police has arrested Satish of Muklan village in a theft case. Two persons were also arrested and pistols seized from them.

JIND
Seized: The police on Tuesday seized 35 quintals of spurious desi ghee and machines being used for manufacturing it from a house located in the fields of Sadipur village near Julana. Eight persons have been arrested in this regard. Those arrested have been identified as Baljeet, Anil, Ved Parkash, Trajesh, Mahavir, Bhog Singh, Harish and owner of the house, Take Ram.

Action flayed: The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Engineers Association has strongly flayed action of the board management under which it has arbitrarily amended the Recruitment and Promotion Rules for promotion of assistant engineers and assistant executive engineers to the rank of Senior Executive Engineers and has reduced tenure of regular service of diploma holder assistant engineers to five years from earlier seven years for these promotions.

NURPUR
Misuse of LPG: The police on Tuesday swung into action to check the misuse of LPG cylinders by vehicle owners in the area. In a special drive to check the misuse of LPG, the police conducted surprise checking on the highway at Nurpur, Jassur, Rehan and Gangath towns and challaned as many as 30 vehicles, mostly being plied as taxis. The police challaned these vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act and confiscated gas kits, LPG cylinders and registration certificates of the vehicles.
