Chief Engineer gets CAT stay
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, December 13
The Central Administrative Tribunal(CAT) today stayed the repatriation of Mr K.B.Sharma, who was officiating as the Chief Engineer (CE) of the municipal corporation, to the Chandigarh Administration.

Directing the Administration to maintain status quo as on December 8, the day on which Mr Sharma was repatriated to UT, the CAT issued notice to the Administration for January 4. In his plea before the tribunal, Mr Sharma stated that he was repatriated to the Administration to work under the CE, Mr V.K.Bhardwaj, who was junior to him.

So far, Mr Sharma has not been posted anywhere as there were only two posts of Superintending Engineers in the UT Engineering Department, which were occupied by Mr S.K.Jaitley and Mr Kishanjit Singh. Further, his repatriation was in violation of the stay orders granted by the tribunal in 2005.

In 2005, when the Administration was getting a CE from Haryana for the MC, Mr Sharma had approached the CAT, which had granted the stay. The case is pending with the tribunal.
