Teachers invited: The Punjab Finance Minister, Mr Surinder Singla, has invited a delegation of the aided-school Progressive Front for talks on December 12 to discuss the demands of the teachers. In a press release, the Progressive Front press secretary, Mr Gurdish Pal Singh, said the front welcomed the Finance Minister’s move to hold a dialogue with the front.

Seminar: A two-day seminar on ‘Re-evaluation of Punjabi Prose in the 20th century’ on Thursday commenced at the Senate Hall of Punjabi University. Dr J.S. Grewal, Director, World Punjabi Centre, inaugurated the seminar which is being organised by Punjabi Department of the university along with Punjab Academy, Delhi.

Annual conference: the NSS Department will hold its inter-college annual conference on ‘Healthy Youth for Healthy India’ on Saturday.

Farmers advised: Rashtriya Kisan Sangathan Haryana wing general secretary Jasbir Singh Sadopurian, on Thursday said farmers must use bio-fertilisers instead of chemical fertilisers. Mr Jasbir Singh was addressing farmers at Subzi Mandi here. He said chemical fertilisers and pesticides should be stopped and farmers must use bio-fertilisers, cow dung, compost and other bio-friendly products. He said according to latest statistics, vegetables were being grown in about 60 lakh hectares of land in the country. He said that there has been improvement in production due to use of hybrid seeds.
