Expert clears fuzz about fuzzy
logic
Doraha, November 30 Dr Yaduvir Singh said that fuzzy logic is now-a-days widely used in home appliances like smart washing machines which sense the quality of dirt in clothes, the weight of the load and the type of the fabric. Then it adjusts the wash cycle, temperature and detergent level accordingly. In TV sets, fuzzy logic helps in automatically adjusting the volume when the noise in the room increases and decreases and changes its brightness when the intensity of light in the room changes. It is also used in fuel injection, transmission and brake system in advanced cars. The transmission provides a smoother ride and reduces wear and tear. In the medical field too, expert systems use fuzzy logic, which helps doctors diagnose diabetes and prostrate cancer. Recent developments in the field of soft computing and machine intelligence were discussed. Dr Yaduvir Singh said, “Machine Intelligence is the name given to a software, which tries to imitate some powers of human intelligence. It offers an ability to perform tasks outside the scope of traditional processes. Intelligent control is better than conventional control, as the intelligent controller reduces cost, provides superior features and gives better product performance.” Dr A.S. Bansal, Principal, welcomed the resource person and Ms Aarti Bhalla presented the vote of thanks. |
