Mohali
New bikes for Cops:
The district police has been provided with 31 new motor cycles for PCR work. The motor cycles were flagged off by the SSP, Mr Naunihal Singh, here on Tuesday. Twenty of these are going to be used in Mohali, six in Zirakpur and five in Kharar. As many as 140 cops are being deployed on PCR duty.

Electrocuted: A youth, working as a truck cleaner, got electrocuted after he accidentally touched a high tension wire in Phase XI here on Tuesday. The police said the youth, Shukla, hailed from UP. The accident happened when he was cleaning the truck.

Immunisation Day
: Polio Sub-National Immunisation Day will be observed on November 12 for controlling recent out break of polio micelitis in the country. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, O.P. Langyan here on Wednesday. Six wild polio virus cases — two in Sonepat and one each in Kurukshetra, Faridabad, Ambala and Panchkula — had been found.

Elected: The Alumni Association of MDSD Girls College, Ambala City, held its annual meet at the college on Tuesday. The Principal of the college, Dr Kiran Angra, encouraged the students to stay connected with the college. The election of the association was held in which Ms Taruna Arora was elected president while Ms Jyoti Oberoi was elected secretary. Members of the body presented a cultural programme.
