State govt releases DA, hikes medical allowance
Srinagar, October 15 Announcing the decision after a meeting with representatives of the Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union here, Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra said the arrears of DA for the first three months, starting July 2006, would be deposited in the general provident fund of the employees. For October, it would be disbursed with the salary, he said adding the DA would be released before Id-ul-Fitr next week. He said that for the first time, the state government has maintained Mr Karra said that given the huge increase in medical costs, the Finance Department has also cleared the enhancement of the monthly medical allowance of state government employees from the existing Rs 100 to Rs 300. The minister said the long-standing demand of accounts service employees has been fulfilled which would, besides streamlining the accounts service cadre, offer better promotion avenues to its officers by removing stagnation. In another major decision, he also announced regularisation of around 150 daily wage workers in the Sericulture Department. |

Srinagar, October 15 This will be in view of the festivals of Id-ul-Fitar and Divali, an official spokesman here said. The Civil Secretariat and other offices will close in the summer capital of Srinagar on October 27 and will re-open in Jammu, the winter capital of the state, on November 6. The decision to draw the salaries in advance was taken at a meeting convened by the Commissioner Secretary, General Administrative Department, Mr Khursheed Ahmed Ganaie, here yesterday to review the arrangements for the annual durbar move. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Secretary, Finance, and all heads of departments. Representatives of the police and the Army discussed the security, transport and road conditions of the national highway and other facilities for the employees. The Inspector-General of Police, Traffic, was directed to ensure the smooth movement of employees from Srinagar to Jammu. The Deputy Commissioners of Doda and Udhampur have been asked to make necessary arrangements to ensure that food items in various hotels all along the National Highway on the day of movement of employees are in hygienic conditions and employees are not over charged. |
