Jagadhri, October 15
Bhiwani MP Kuldeep Bishnoi who took up the SEZ issue in Parliament told reporters here today that a case against the Chief Minister be registered as Gurgaon SEZ was the biggest scam of the state. “If nothing comes out of the inquiry I will give up politics”, said Mr Bishnoi.

He was here with his father and former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal to attend a party. He said the present government was more corrupt than the previous Om Parkash-led INLD government.

He said they (he and his father) were not going to join either the BJP or the BSP. joining the INLD was next to impossible for them.

Earlier, the turnout at the tea-party, which got converted into a public meeting brought cheers to the organisers as turnout was “more than they had expected”. The tea-party, Bhajan supporters say, is an exercise to strengthen the Congress party. it was fourth such party in the state.

The gathering expected the father-son duo to announce next step, but Mr Bhajan Lal in his short speech just told them to wait for three months. “I am here to meet you. I will again come after three months and then we would talk in detail”, said the former Chief Minister.

But the gathering raised slogans as Mr Bishnoi took to the mike. “We would be announcing our next step at rally to be held in Rohtak soon”, said the MP from Bhiwani. “Our Chief Minister is saying that power problem in the state would be solved in the next three and half years. But how is he going to solve it when no new MoU or agreements have been signed”, asked Mr Bishnoi.

He took the Congress governments to task by asking that both in Haryana and Punjab were Congress governments and the Congress- led UPA at the centre and yet the SYL canal issue was pending.

Taking up the SEZ issue he said that it was not a bad thing but the Act concerned must be amended. “Like the minimum limit for the acquisition of land for SEZ there must be a cap on the upper limit also”, he demanded and said that he had been writing letters about SEZ to the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former state Congress president Dharam Pal Malik, MLA Mange Ram Gupta, HPCC Secretary Satpal Kaushik, senior Congress leader N.K Sharma, Mr Davinder Sharma, Mr Surinder Madan, Mr Bajinder Kadyan, Mr Zile Singh, Mr Ravi Chaudhary, former MLA Lehri Singh, Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Rozi and former MP from Bhiwani Jangbir Singh were among the speakers.

Deepender

Jhajjar, October 15
The murder case of 6 months pregnant woman, Amanpreet became complicated with her parents and in-laws blaming each other for killing her.

The post-mortem examination of the victim revealed that she had put up resistance and was assaulted with sharp-edged weapon and bitten and strangled for the execution of crime.

Her body was handed over to the parents who had come here from Chandigarh, despite opposition by her husband, Praveen’s father of the victim, Devender, who is an inspector in the Haryana Police, mother, grandfather, uncles and husband of her father‘s sister, who is also Sub Inspector in Haryana police, arrived here to take the body for cremation. The local police did not object to the handing over of her body for cremation.

The police recorded statements of her parents and started interrogation but refused to disclose anything. DSP, Bahadurgarh, Mann Singh Sehrawat said here today that as per Kavita’s statement, one of the assailants introduced himself as son of her father’s sister, whose identification did not match with the figure of Kavita’s statement.

Grandfather of the girl Purshotam Singh, told The Tribune that she had talked to him over phone two-three times in one year. He maintained that she had talked about torture by her husband Praveen and in-laws. While, Jai Singh, father of her husband stated his wife did not accept this marriage and she had left home to live with her parents in nearby Luharheri village. Jai Singh claimed, there was no dispute between the couple and he himself had also accepted the marriage. He told the father of girl had tried to fix his son in a fake criminal case and thus his pistol was confiscated in 2004 in Panchkula. The girl’s father told that he had disowned his daughter when she tied the knot with Praveen against his wishes and never talked to her. He alleged that the murder was pre-planned.

A three-member team of doctors who conducted the post-mortem, examination said she was six-months pregnant. Sources told the girl appeared to have struggled to save himself. She had died of severe head injury and her body had bite marks at six spots. The doctors however, ruled out that she was assaulted sexually.

Seminar focuses on sexual abuse of children
Tribune News Service

Hisar, October 15
“Vaastavikta”, a social organisation, organised a seminar-cum-interactive session on sexual exploitation of children at Suhila Bhavan here today. Ms Richa and Mr Surender Singh conducted the programme, which was attended by several prominent figures of the city, apart from a number of parents of schoolchildren.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Taj M. Pannicker, a Hisar-based psychoanalyst, maintained that when an adult fulfilled his or her sexual desire through a child, it amounted to sexual exploitation of the child.

She asserted that a large number of children in our society were made victims of sexual exploitation, though a majority of cases were not reported. “A major reason behind this is lack of awareness among the people,” she said, adding that most of the parents tried to hide such cases as they felt disclosing it would bring a bad name to them.

The psychologist observed that the children subjected to sexual exploitation suffered a mental trauma, yet they kept it to themselves as they were too embarrassed to reveal it. Ms Pannicker emphasised that the parents needed to build a friendly relationship with their children and keep cautioning them about such mishaps through stories and anecdotes. She pointed out that the exploiter generally used some lure to attract children and often talked about morality and religiousness to have a clean image in society. “Never neglect your children, nor ignore what they want to tell you... provide them emotional security to bring out their feelings,” she advised the parents.

The expert opined that the exploiter should be identified and punished, while in extreme cases, the children should be taken to a psychologist.

The general secretary of the organisation, Mr Rajesh, said an interactive question-answer session was also held.
