The gathering expected the father-son duo to announce next step, but Mr Bhajan Lal in his short speech just told them to wait for three months. “I am here to meet you. I will again come after three months and then we would talk in detail”, said the former Chief Minister. But the gathering raised slogans as Mr Bishnoi took to the mike. “We would be announcing our next step at rally to be held in Rohtak soon”, said the MP from Bhiwani. “Our Chief Minister is saying that power problem in the state would be solved in the next three and half years. But how is he going to solve it when no new MoU or agreements have been signed”, asked Mr Bishnoi. He took the Congress governments to task by asking that both in Haryana and Punjab were Congress governments and the Congress- led UPA at the centre and yet the SYL canal issue was pending. Taking up the SEZ issue he said that it was not a bad thing but the Act concerned must be amended. “Like the minimum limit for the acquisition of land for SEZ there must be a cap on the upper limit also”, he demanded and said that he had been writing letters about SEZ to the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former state Congress president Dharam Pal Malik, MLA Mange Ram Gupta, HPCC Secretary Satpal Kaushik, senior Congress leader N.K Sharma, Mr Davinder Sharma, Mr Surinder Madan, Mr Bajinder Kadyan, Mr Zile Singh, Mr Ravi Chaudhary, former MLA Lehri Singh, Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Rozi and former MP from Bhiwani Jangbir Singh were among the speakers. |

Seminar focuses on sexual abuse of children
Hisar, October 15 Addressing the gathering, Ms Taj M. Pannicker, a Hisar-based psychoanalyst, maintained that when an adult fulfilled his or her sexual desire through a child, it amounted to sexual exploitation of the child. She asserted that a large number of children in our society were made victims of sexual exploitation, though a majority of cases were not reported. “A major reason behind this is lack of awareness among the people,” she said, adding that most of the parents tried to hide such cases as they felt disclosing it would bring a bad name to them. The psychologist observed that the children subjected to sexual exploitation suffered a mental trauma, yet they kept it to themselves as they were too embarrassed to reveal it. Ms Pannicker emphasised that the parents needed to build a friendly relationship with their children and keep cautioning them about such mishaps through stories and anecdotes. She pointed out that the exploiter generally used some lure to attract children and often talked about morality and religiousness to have a clean image in society. “Never neglect your children, nor ignore what they want to tell you... provide them emotional security to bring out their feelings,” she advised the parents. The expert opined that the exploiter should be identified and punished, while in extreme cases, the children should be taken to a psychologist. The general secretary of the organisation, Mr Rajesh, said an interactive question-answer session was also held. |
