BJP statement deplored:
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) strongly condemned the statement of the BJP in which it appreciated the methods used in Punjab during the decade-long unrest. Mr Harvinder Singh Sarna, president, DSGMC, in a press release issued here stated that it showed that the BJP was supporting gross misuse of law and violation of human rights in Punjab in the name of militancy.

SGPC staff warned: Mr Avtar Singh, SGPC chief, issued a stern warning to employees against leaking any type of information. In a press release issued here, the SGPC chief said that any employee found guilty on this count would be given exemplary punishment.

Indefinite strike
: To protest against the non-fulfilment of their demands, the GHTP Contract Worker Union at Lehra Mohabbat Thermal Plant has given a call of indefinite strike from October 15. In a release issued here Wednesday, the union’s general secretary, Mr Gurpreet Singh Dheeman, said they had intimated the PSEB Chairman, Labour Commissioner, Punjab, Chief Engineer, GHTP, DC and SSP about the decision. They would also hold a gate rally on October 6 to lodge their protest.

NCC camp
: As many as 740 NCC cadets are participating in the 12-day annual training camp of NCC being organised at Sri Guru Anged Dev College, Khadoor Sahib, 20 km from here, which started on September 28. During the camp, the cadets would be put through basic military training with emphasis on PT drilling, weapon training, firing and bayonet fighting. Separate training is also being given to 57 senior/junior division boys and girls for taking part in inter group competition to be held later at Nilokheri (Haryana).

Medicinal herbs seized
: The Himachal Pradesh Police has seized medicinal herbs weighing about 19 quintals from the possession of a youth Vinod Kumar while he was carrying these herbs in a truck on the Chamba-Chowari-Pathankot highway. The police intercepted the truck at Sajhi naha near Lahru on the highway towards Pathankot. The truck was confiscated and the youths have been arrested. The police has registered a case under the Forest Act.

3 held, charas seized
: In one of the largest seizures of charas in Kangra district the police arrested four persons with 3 kg, 300 gm charas from their possession in Jadrangal area on the intervening night of October 3 and 4. As part of a special drive against narcotics led by ASP Mr Santosh Patial, the police put up barriers at Jagrangal and Nagrota, following information that a large consignment of charas was being brought here and nabbed the accused.

Kangra
Body found:
Kangra police found the body of a 35-year-old person, Mohinder Singh, resident of Dadasiba, at the local bus stand, the police said here on Wednesday. Mr Surender Sharma, SHO, Kangra said the dead body was found by some waiting passengers.
