Effigies of evil go up in flames
Dasehra celebrated with gaiety

An effigy of Ravana, the symbol of evil, goes up in flames at Daresi Ground, Ludhiana, on Monday evening. Finally, the air exploded with crackers accompanied by myriad coloured lights. People in various Dasehra grounds of the city witnessed scenes of the Ramlila wherein Lord Ram aimed arrows at Ravana, Meghnada and Kumbhkarna setting them afire.

Agitated motorist shoots groom’s relative
Raikot, October 2
Agitated by not getting passage from vehicles accompanying a marriage party, a farmer of Andloo village, near here, opened fire with a pistol, leaving a relative of the groom dead, last night.

Rs 991 crore project for providing safe drinking water

The Punjab Government has set up a municipal development fund of Rs 991 crore to finance a comprehensive project for the supply of safe drinking water to 117 towns in Punjab and provide sewerage facilities to another 37 towns.

Thousands immerse Sanjhi in canal

200 patients examined at dental camp

He was addressing a gathering during a free dental check-up and awareness camp organised at Railway road here today. Around 200 patients were examined.

Hockey meet begins today
