PAU kisan mela arrangements reviewed
Ludhiana, September 16
Punjab minister Jagmohan Singh Kang today met Vice-Chancellor K.S.Aulakh and discussed arrangements for the kisan mela at the PAU, scheduled to be held on September 21, 22. The two worked out the modalities for the mela and decided to make it the foundation of a state function to highlight that agriculture and culture of Punjab are inseparable and mirror the true heritage of Punjabis.

Contests on crops for farmers
The Director of Extension Education, Dr S.S.Gill, said there would be a farm produce competition in vegetables, fruits, floriculture and field crops. The farmers who wished to participate in this interesting competition should submit only the university-recommended and approved varieties under these four categories on the first day September 21 till 12.30 p.m.
Pak delegation visits PAU museums
Ludhiana, September 16
A 50-member delegation, representing the Indo-Pak Punjab Psychiatric Society, visited Punjab Agricultural University, here yesterday.
Led by the society secretary, Dr Haroon Rashid Chaudhry, this battery of professionals comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, general practitioners and voluntary workers, evinced keen interest in the Museum of Social History and the Dr Uppal Museum of Water Resources.

Students welcome freshers in Punjabi style
Ludhiana, September 16
Mehak Mutiyaran Di, a short cultural program, was organised by the Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, to welcome the new batch here today. Ms Neelam Dawar was the guest of honour. The students escorted Principal Dr (Ms) Varinder Kaur Thind and other guests to the venue in a jago and sang a welcome song.

Nanak College to host youth festival
Doraha, September 16
Doraha Nanak National College, Doraha, will host the Youth and Heritage Festival of Ludhiana Zone-A from October 13.
Dr Narinder Singh Sidhu, Principal of the college, informed that 13 colleges are participating in the festival.

A three-day medical check-up camp which was organised at Guru Harkrishan Public School concluded here today.
