No meeting held
: Mr Hanuman Dass Goyal, a non-official member of the District Consumer Protection Council, Ferozepore, has criticised the administration for not calling any meeting since its formation. The state government had issued a notification on December 8, 2005, under Section 8A(1) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, to establish District Consumer Protection Councils all over Punjab. The notification had made it clear that the council would meet as and when necessary but not less than twice every year.

Smack seized: Mr Arpit Shukla, SSP, said here on Wednesday that Robin Kumar of Mohalla Rampura, Sangria police station in Rajasthan, had been arrested under the NDPS Act. During interrogation, he revealed that he had bought smack from Mukesh of Mala Rampura village in Rajasthan for selling to his customers in Khubban and Sitogunno villages.

Death anniversary: The death anniversary of Swami Keshwanand, the late MP, was observed on Wednesday. A havan was held by the Sahitya Sadan Managing Committee. Mr Hans Raj Arya, former MLA, Mr Banwari Lal Nagpal, president of the city Congress committee, Dr G. L. Nagpal, former Principal, DAV College of Education, Ms Saroj Nagpal, Principal, Swami Keshwanand Senior Secondary School, and Dr Sandeep Watta, in charge, Swami Keshwanand Ayurvedic Hospital, were among those who paid tributes.
