Cheating case: On the complaint of Mr G.D. Mali, General Manager, Project Rohan Rajdeep Tollways, Samundra, the Garshankar police has registered a case under Sections 420 and 428 of the IPC against the accountant Deepak Bhandari. According to police sources, Mr Mali, alleged that Deepak Bhandari had embezzled about Rs 3 lakh.
Case registered: On the complaint of Sardool Singh, the Garshankar police has registered a case under Section 15(2) of the Indian Medical Act, 1956, against Kuljit Singh son of Darshan Singh, for doing medical practice without valid certificate.

Contest: A Hindi nursery rhyme competition was held at Kundan Vidya Mandir on Wednesday. Students of LKG and UKG participated. Winners of the competition are:
LKG: Himika Sood was first, Vidhi Jain second and Ridhi third. Kunwar got the consolation prize.
UKG: Jasleen and Vandita were first, Garima was second and Abhishek third. Aayat got the consolation prize.

Christians’ rally: The Sanjha Masihi Morcha, Punjab will organise a rally at Ludhiana on Sunday. Rev yaqub Masih, CNI Church, Pathankot, Rev. John Chouhan, CNI Church, Sujanpur and Ms Manjit Mall Secretary Diocese of Chandigarh and Punjab said here on Tuesday that their main demand was the grant of minority status to the Punjabi Christians.

Van Mahotsav: Lions Club (Patiala supreme) celebrated Van Mahotsav by planting saplings at Budha Dal Public School here on Wednesday. The sapling plantation drive was initiated by Mr S.K. Ahluwalia, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, in the presence of Baba Udey Singh, President of the Society governing the school, Ms Amrit Aujla, Principal, and Mr Deepak Malhotra, Region Chairman of Lions Club.

Compensation paid: The mother of the four-year-old boy Aditya who was strangulated to death after being sodomised by a 17-year-old juvenile earlier this month, was on Wednesday given Rs 5,000 as compensation from the Red Cross funds and was also assured a job by the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Alok

Constable killed: Jarnail Singh, a constable posted at Verowal, died and Head Constable Amarjit Singh received serious injuries when their motor cycle was hit by another motor cycle at Bannian village on Monday. Jarnail and Amarjit were returning home after duty. The police have registered a case under Section 304A, 279, 427 of the IPC.
