Osteoarthritis expert to hold camp from today
Chandigarh, July 13 In Chandigarh today, the founder of the technique called 'Poly Centric Knee Brace' for osteoarthritis spoke about the importance of research and development in the area. His talk was relevant considering osteoarthritis is one of the commonest forms of arthritis and one third of India's population suffers from it. "This is a common problem resulting from the breakdown of the cartilage inside the knee joints which is a rough, rubbery tissue protecting the bones from friction. It mainly occurs due to wear and tear of the cartilage and is more common in persons over the age of fifty. Total Knee Replacement (TKR) is one surgical method to get relief from this problem. But a common man cannot afford this costly surgery," said Dr Naik, who will hold a three day corrective camp, beginning tomorrow on the premises of Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Sector 26. During the camp, Dr Naik will examine patients and develop knee braces for them. Dr Naik has been practicing his technique for a long time at the PNR Society for Relief and Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. On a tour of India with his mobile team meant for purposeful outreach, Dr Naik promises to solve the problems of those who come to see him at Sector 26. The idea is to offer Poly Centric Knee Brace to anyone in need of it. |
