BJP meeting: A meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Fatehgarh Sahib district, will be
held on June 26, at Mandi Gobindgarh. Punjab BJP’s disciplinary action committee
chairman Balvir Chand Kapila will be chief guest. Stating this BJP’s district general
secretary Kuldip Madaan said working committee members, mandal presidents and general secretaries will also participate
in the meeting.
Condoled: A meeting of the Malwa Sabhyachark Club, Khamano, was held
here under the chairmanship of its president Harbans Singh Pandher. The meeting condoled
the death of Surinder Kaur, ‘the nightingale of Punjab’ and termed it as a big
loss to Punjabi culture. The meeting decided to set up an award in her memory which would
be given to promising singers of the area every year.

Illicit liquor recovered: The Subhanpur police
recovered 4500 ML of illicit liquor from the possession of Ashok Kumar of Mohalla
Baljot Nagar in Kartarpur during patrolling on Monday. An FIR under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise
Act was registered against him. The district police had recovered several thousand ML
of illicit liquor from 10 persons in different parts on Sunday. Separate FIRs were lodged under relevant Sections of the Excise Act at police stations concerned.

Girl dies in mishap: A teenaged girl was killed after a speeding car hit the
motor cycle on which she was a pillion rider. According to the police, Neha died on the spot at Shamgarh village near Tarauti when an Accent car rammed into the motorcycle of Brij Mohan. The complainant, Brij, alleged that the driver of the car, Roopinder Singh, was driving at a high speed. The police has registered a case.

Indefinite fast: The district unit of the Haryana Rajkiya Sangh has begun an indefinite fast demanding the reinstatement of a suspended teacher and against the alleged
anomalies in the transfer of teachers. The strike is also against the demotion of a master to JBT. Five activities of the
sangh, Som Parkash, Suresh Kumar, Manmohan Singh, Tara Singh and Mange Ram, started the fast in front of the District Education Officer’s office here on Monday.
