School shows 100 pc result
Doraha, June 14 Chitvan Vinayak, daughter of Mr Ashok Vinayak, and Nisha Gupta, daughter of Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta, have stood first in the class by securing a total percentage of 86.31. Mankirat Kaur, daughter of Mr Baljit Singh, has secured 85.4 per cent marks and has stood second in the class. Similarly Amanpreet Kaur, daughter of Mr Surinder Singh Gill, and Pawanjit Kaur, daughter of Mr Ranjit Singh, have stood third and fourth by securing 85.2 per cent and 84.3 per cent marks, respectively. Mrs Umal Kaur, Director of the school, and Mr Sukhpal Singh, chairman, congratulated the Headmistress, Mrs Manju Shaw Vinayak, the staff and students of the class for the result. They also thanked the parents of these students for putting in their best efforts and taking personal pain. Sahnewal: The result of Class XII (PSEB) of Government Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, have been declared as 100 per cent. In the medical group, Gaganeet Kaur, daughter of Amarjit Singh, stood first securing 347 marks out of 450. Vishavjit Kaur, daughter of Mr Gurcharan Singh, stood second by securing 336 marks. Amanjit Kaur and Gundeep Kaur have stood third by getting a total of 324 each. Similarly, in arts group, Kamaljit Kaur, daughter of Mr Baljit Singh, stood first by securing 337 marks out of 450. Renu Bala, daughter of Mr Ashok Kumar, and Gurvinder Kaur, daughter of Mr Harwant Singh, have secured 336 marks and 332 marks, respectively. In the commerce group, Summaya, daughter of Mr Santosh Kumar, has secured the first position by getting a total of 334 marks out of 450. Daljot Kaur, daughter of Mr Jagjit Singh, and Priyanka Bhatia, daughter of Mr Satpal Bhatia, have secured 312 and 311 marks, respectively. The Principal of the school has congratulated the staff, students and parents. |
PAU students return from Moscow
Ludhiana, June 14 “The students were imparted hands-on training in land levelling, modelling of salt water movements in soils, GIS and remote sensing, designing and testing of pumps, measuring contaminants in the air and hydro-chemical analysis of water,” said Dr P.P.S. Lobana, who accompanied the students for the training. The students visited a meteorological station, Russia’s Scientific Research Institute of Irrigation Systems, Zagorsk Hydro Accumulation Power Plant, and Dubna Research Station. They also attended international congress and exhibition on water ecology and technology-ECWATECH — 2006. During their stay there, the students got an opportunity to see historical places like Red Square and Holy Trinity Lavra in Sergiev Posad. They also saw the world famous ‘Russian Circus’. |
SIFT organises free workshop
Ludhiana, June 14 Ms Pallavi, giving details about the workshop, said four techniques - fabric painting, fabric spray, hand embroidery and block printing - would be taught to the students. Anyone above 12 years of age could join the workshop. She said, “There is a batch of about 25-30 students daily. They have been asked to make kurtis on georgettes and chiffons. The best 10 kurtis will be showcased at a fashion show in the Sutlej club on June 18. Otherwise, students can make anything like suits, dupattas, bed covers, cushion covers etc during the workshop”. Ms Pallavi further added that the students were both teenaged girls and elderly women. “It is good to see them learning under one roof”, said Ms Pallavi. Ms Sunita, one of the students in her early fifties, said it was a good opportunity to learn, as the classes were free of cost. “In the past three days, I have made a beautiful block-printed suit for my daughter”, she said. |

Kids showcase talent at
summer camp
Ludhiana, June 14 During the camp, children honed their skills in cookery, dance, calligraphy, art and craft, badminton, and computer, and learnt about personality development. An exhibition was organised for parents in which they relished the creations made out of waste material by children. Photo frames and flower pots were the attraction of the exhibition. The parents appreciated the efforts of the teachers for helping their children in improving their handwriting. The students also performed colourful Punjabi and western dances. The parents also saw their children work in the kitchen and display their culinary skills by making delicious snacks. “Healthy body carries a healthy mind” was the slogan for sports classes. Principal Dr Vandana Shahi congratulated the staff and students on the successful conclusion of the camp. English workshop
A month-long English workshop organised by Better Think is being held at its Sarabha Nagar centre. Center manager Gurpreet Wadhera said the focus was to encourage children to converse in English. He said children were enthusiastic about the camp. “Kids have shown a considerable improvement in just one week of the camp,” he said. |
PAU signs MoU with US varisities
Ludhiana, June 14 The agreement of cooperation between the PAU and the University of California was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr K.S. Aulakh, and the Chancellor, Dr Larry N. Vanderhoef, respectively. This is for a period of three years. The MoU between PAU and the University of Florida was signed by the Director Research, Dr B.S. Dhillon, and the Dean, (International Centre), Mr Dennis C. Jett, on behalf of President J. Bernard Machen. This agreement terminates on June 30, 2009. |
