Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Uttaranchal, at many places in Himachal Pradesh and east Rajasthan, at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Punjab, rose in east Uttar Pradesh, fell in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were markedly below normal in west Uttar Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Haryana, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, below normal in Punjab and Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 40.6C recorded at Suratgarh (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 24: Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh. Isolated duststorm/thunderstorm is likely in Haryana and Rajasthan. Isolated thunder-squalls are likely in Himachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 24: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain/thundershowers accompanied with squall in some areas. The maximum teperature will be around 38C.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
