Polio campaign today
Chandigarh, May 20 Mr Krishna Mohan, Home Secretary, has asked people to make polio eradication a success. He said polio vaccine would be administered to the targeted children at 461 booths, including mobile vans, all over the Union Territory. There are about 1.22 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years in the area. This will be the second round of the campaign on national immunisation. The first round of the Pulse Polio campaign was conducted on April 9. As a result of the effective steps taken by the state Health Department, no polio case has been detected for the last three years. The students of different schools yesterday organised rallies to make people aware of the Pulse Polio immunisation campaign. Doctors delivered lectures on the occasion. |
Rajkumar, Farheen win carrom titles
Chandigarh, May 20 Raj Kumar, who was trailing 0-1, gave a superb comeback in the second game by winning it 25-24. Raj Kumar never looked back and won the title by winning the third and final game by 25-19. Mohammad Hassan of Government Model School, Sector 45, defeated Mohammad Saquib of Government Model School, Sector 44, in the Boys’ sub-juniors’ final. Mr Malik Singh Kang, former Director, Haryana State Cooperative Bank, gave away prizes to the winners. Chandigarh, May 20 The main scorer for the winners was Pumdcik, who scored two goals to seal the win. Earlier, the first goal came through Ajay Saroha in the sixth minute. The lone goal from the FCI came through Navbir Singh. For the third place, the match was held between the BSNL and the ONGC, which was won by ONGC 5-0. Pramod Kumar, Amarjeet Pratap, Sanjay Panday, Arshad Ahmad and Rajdeep Singh were the scorers for the team. |
