Mr Harbans Lal Sharma (retired from HSEB), father of Mr Raman Sharma, Sectional Head, and Mr Arun Sharma, Composing Section, The Tribune, died here today in the wee hours. He was 80. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter. He was cremated at the Sector 25 crematorium today. His cremation was largely attended.

Ex-Services League secretary dead

The secretary of the Chandigarh chapter of the Indian Ex-Services League, Major Prem Singh (retd), passed away early today. He was 82. His cremation will take place on May 1 at the Sector 25 cremation ground.

The Punjab Engineering College today decided to consult the Government of India regarding the move to abolish the provision of admitting students following nominations by various state and Central government agencies.

324 engineering students get degrees

The annual convocation of Punjab Engineering College, Sector 12, was held today. As many as 324 graduates received degrees. Prof P.V. Indersen, president of the Indian Academy of Engineering, gave the degrees to budding engineers.
