Indian Army officer scales Africa’s highest peak
Chandigarh, April 2
A young Indian Army officer, now serving with the UN forces in Congo, has successfully scaled the Uhuru peak, one of the highest volcanos in the world and the highest peak in Africa. The officer, Major Sarfraz Singh Kular, is the son of Col Balbir Singh (retd), hockey Olympian and an Arjuna awardee.

Mr Tilak Raj, a resident of Sector 19-C, filed a complaint with the police alleging that one pair of gold tops, a ring, two gold bangles, and cash worth Rs 3,000 were stolen from his residence during on Saturday.

SBI strike likely to hit transactions

12,000 take PMT (pre) exam

As many as 12,000 students today took the CBSE PMT (Pre) Entrance examination which was held at over 20 centres in Chandigarh. Several students from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh reached the city on Saturday to avoid any last minute tension.

Kidwai inaugurates school

Pulse polio drive on April 9
Mohali, April 2
The health authorities of Ropar district have geared themselves up for undertaking another round of pulse polio campaign on April 9 and May 21. Dr Yash Pal Singla, Civil Surgeon, Ropar, said at a press conference here yesterday that monovalent vaccine would be administered during the general round being organised to eradicate polio.
