90 per cent of Reema’s skeleton recovered
Ludhiana, February 17
With the recovery of a skull, more bones and a bunch of hair today from a 35-foot deep septic tank in the factory of Micky Jain, main accused in the Reema Jain murder case, the Jagraon police has recovered 90 per cent of her skeleton.

The eldest son of Reema Jain has finally accepted the police theory that his mother had been murdered after he identified certain articles recovered from the septic tank in the factory of main accused Micky Jain.

Board firm on shifting polluting units

The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) is in no mood to grant relaxation to pollution- creating industrial units to be shifted from residential areas. The board, which has asked the industry to get assessment done regarding the number of pollution-creating units and related factors, has told the industry in residential areas not to delay in complying with its orders.

Change of road name upsets leader’s family
Ludhiana, February 17
The family of late Basant Singh Khalsa, an Akali leader and prominent social worker of the city, is upset with the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for naming the road connecting Mata Rani Chowk to Guru Nanak Stadium as Club Road that was christened as Basant Singh Khalsa Marg in the memory of the slain leader six years ago.

Portraits of martyrs to be put up in classrooms
Ludhiana, February 17
Education Minister Harnam Dass Johar has announced that the portraits of martyrs, renowned scientists and national leaders would be displayed in classrooms in all government schools to educate the students about patriotism and moral values.

The International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO) will hold a symposium on ' How can social regeneration and economic development envisaged by the freedom fighters and revolutionaries be accomplished by evolving political process' on 75th martyrdom day of Chander Shekhar Azad of the Hindustan Republic Army here on February 27.

Two held with liquor
Jagraon, February 17
Surinderpal Singh of Khotianwala Khooh Malsihan Bajan was arrested by the police from Galib Kalan and 18930 mls of illicit liquor was seized from his possession. The Sudhar police seized 13680 mls of illicit liquor from Rabi Sharma of Mohi from Hissowal. Both of them were booked under Section 61 of the Excise Act.

Farmers told to diversify into processing 
Ludhiana, February 17
The Director of Extension Education, PAU, Dr. S. S.Gill, today said that those farmers who were engaged in processing their own farm produce would be able to face new challenges in the field of agriculture. The farmers in Punjab farmers would have to take initiative, individually or collectively to market their own produce either raw or processed. The latter option would fetch them value addition, he said.

Stick to irrigation schedule, PAU tells farmers
Ludhiana, February 17
Given the sensitive relationship between wheat and the weather, there is no visual adverse effect on the crop under the prevailing climate. However, PAU experts have advised the farmers to irrigate the crop as per recommended time schedule. Head of the Department of Agronomy and Agrometereology, Dr Lall Singh Brar today said the variation in minimum and maximum temperatures have varied as follows:

All India Council of Technical Education has released the first instalment of Rs 7 lakh to PAU College of Agricultural Engineering. The duration of the scheme is three years.
