PGI employees allege favouritism
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 17
The PGI Employees Union (Group B, C, D employees) has alleged “favouritism” in recruitment of a lift operator by an official of PGI and demanded an inquiry into the appointment.

In a letter addressed to the Central Vigilance Commissioner, New Delhi, the President, Mr Sat Pal Bhardwaj had alleged an officer of the PGI “misused his power and authority to grant undue favours” by selecting a unqualified contract employee as a lift operator in the recently held selection.

The letter maintains that the institute advertised five posts of lift operators against vacancies notified in the Regional Employment Exchange. Applications were invited from regular employees of the institute as also from those working in research schemes, provided they had initially joined through the employment exchange.

They alleged that the selected candidate did not possess requisite qualifications initially and “managed” to get a certificate in the one year that the selection was delayed as also an experience certificate to fulfill the criterion. The union had urged the CVC to thoroughly investigate the matter.
