Sehwag lights up gloomy day
Lahore, January 15 Sehwag displayed his characteristic flair, unleashing a flurry of boundaries to place himself on the brink of his 11th Test century as the visitors cruised to 145 for no loss in reply to Pakistan's mammoth 679 for seven declared on a heavily truncated third day’s play. Only 15 overs were bowled as gentle drizzle and bad light robbed most of the third day’s play, further diminishing the possibility of an outright result in the match. With just two days left, the match seems headed for a tame draw as the placid track at the Gadaffi Stadium was still a batsman’s paradise. Captain Rahul Dravid, who opted to open the innings, was giving Sehwag company on a sedate 37 when play was called off. The dashing Sehwag provided the sparks in the few overs that were possible as he launched a savage assault on the Pakistani bowlers who also failed to get any assistance from the benign track. His unbeaten 96 came off just 89 balls and contained 20 boundaries. The two Indian openers not only rattled up the runs in quick time but also ensured that they remained unseparated with the visitors still needing 335 runs to avoid the follow on. Resuming at their overnight 65 for no loss, the tourists added 80 runs today with Sehwag accounting for 60 of these with 13 hits to the fence after commencing the day at 36. Dravid, not out on 22 overnight, added 15 runs to be on 37 which came off 84 balls and in 135 minutes. He has hit five fours so far. A total of 79 overs were lost overall during the day during which 94 were to be bowled. Sehwag easily stole the day’s honours with his audacious shots that took one’s breath away. The buccaneer from Delhi, who has already termed Pakistan as his favourite team, was his usual belligerent self and unleashed a barrage of shots in the limited time that he got to play. Skipper Dravid was reduced to a mere spectator at the other end as his deputy first raced to his half century with the help of 11 fours. Scoreboard Pakistan

More rain forecast
Lahore, January 15 A total of 79 overs were lost to bad light and drizzle today, with only 73 minutes of play possible during which India added 80 runs in 15 overs. Floodlights had to be switched on right from the morning session, which yielded merely an hour’s play. Only 13 minutes of play was possible after the lunch break which was taken early because of bad light. While light rain has been forecast for tomorrow, the met office has predicted showers on the final day of the Test.

Gag on players to continue
Lahore, January 15 Board President Sharad Pawar, when approached on the issue by some TV channels who have signed up cricketers, told them that the players had signed a contract which barred them from airing their comments or writing columns in newspapers. Pawar also told the TV channels’ representatives that the matter would be discussed during the Working Committee meeting in Delhi. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag would be reminded of the contract by the tour management following his column that appeared in a national newspaper back home. “He would be reminded about the clause of the contract he has signed with the BCCI. No player can write or talk exclusively to the media,” Indian team’s media manager G.S. Walia said today.
