Karnataka pile up 511 for 5
Chandigarh, December 9 Ganesh remained unbeaten for 130 runs with 14 hits to the fence. Amit Verma was another star batsman who scored 118 runs . He had 14 boundaries and two sixers in his total score. Ali Murtaza of Uttar Pradesh bagged two wickets for 93 runs. In reply, Uttar Pradesh played 32 overs and were one wickets down for 111 runs. Gaurav Goel batted well with 48 runs and scored six boundaries. Brijinder was unbeaten with 28 runs. Tomorrow is the final day of the tournament. |

Mohali, December 9 Giving details of the project, which is due to begin early next year, the Kharar MLA, Mr Bir Devinder Singh, said today the complex would have 206 fully air-conditioned showrooms. Each showroom would have three stories. The airconditioned basement would be used as storage space while the ground floor would be the shop and the upper floor the office. A central facility for ripening and cold storage would also be provided to the shopkeepers. The MLA said the market had been planned on the lines of the European markets and was expected to give a boost to the farmers dealing in vegetables, fruits and flowers. “There is going to be four banks here, an auditorium a petrol station,” he said. He was talking to mediapersons at the site of the market complex following a meeting with the Punjab Mandi Board Chairman, Mr Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria. |
City to have Heritage Conservation Centre
Chandigarh, December 9 An official press note here yesterday said the Home Secretary who is also Secretary Tourism would be the Vice-Chairman of the committee. The other members of the committee include the Finance Secretary, Chief Architect, Principal of College of Architecture, Mrs Kiran Joshi, Lecturer at CCA, Mr M.N.Sharma, a former Chief Architect, Director of Tourism, Director Public Relations and Mrs Sangeeta Mehta Bagga, a lecturer at CCA. The Adviser has constituted a state-level committee to screen and scrutinise the proposals received from voluntary organisations, which would be subsequently forwarded to the National Archives of India for financial assistance. The non-official members of the committee include Prof Indu Banga (history), Prof Pushpinder Syal (English) and Prof H.R. Chopra (library and information science), all from Panjab University. The committee will receive all applications or proposals for financial assistance under the scheme from various non-governmental organisations or individuals located within its jurisdiction. It will examine the proposals to ascertain the coverage of applicant under the said scheme and the status of the applicant institution/individual, including their capacity to pool in their matching share. The importance and feasibility of the proposal or project will also be examined. It will submit the recommendation and observation to National Archives of India for consideration in the meetings of the grants committee for the said scheme. |
