Admission for kids,
anxiety for parents
Ludhiana, November 26 Ms Mona Singh says, “Obviously we want our child to go to the very best school, but I am not sure whether my daughter will be able to get admission into it. In
fact, both my husband and I have been on tenterhooks on this account. We have been coaching her. But on meeting other children we get more nervous when they appear not very shy. Our daughter is too shy and in front of strangers she just becomes tongue tied. We are so anxious. The interview is on Sunday.” “The problem is that most of us parents do not know what is the criteria for selection of the children. So we keep asking other parents whose children got admission last year. They all tell us different things. We are confused and our child gets further
confused," said Mr Dheeraj, an anxious father. Another parent, Mohit, said, “Since my wife is not very fluent in English, the onus of training my little son for his KG interview falls on me. I have taken leave from office to make him familiar with the topography of three schools where we have applied for his admission. My wife is a nervous wreck and is pressurising me to tap all sources who are remotely connected with any of these schools. The schools should do away with interviews. After all what do they expect a three-plus child to know. The schools should have a definite criteria and should conduct admissions with regard to that. The sad thing is that there is no transparency in the admission process.” |
