RAISED in October, 1941, in Delhi, Indian paratroopers completed 64 years of their existence in October. After Partition, Headquarters 2 Airborne Division, 50 Para Brigade and 77 Para Brigade, came to India’s share. We retained only 50 Para Brigade in the restructuring programme. Mr Mahesh Kumar of Indira Colony, Mani Majra, has reported to the police that his Hero Honda motor cycle (CH-03-R-8675) was stolen from the parking lot of Shanti Kunj, Sector 16, on Sunday.

Lecturer’s suicide: in-laws still at large

The police has not been able to arrest any of the four persons booked in connection with the case of alleged suicide committed by a resident of Sector 71 here on Saturday even while raids are being conducted at various places.

PEC gives more options to Ph.D students

Students wanting to enroll for Ph.D at Punjab Engineering College will now have three options to seek admission. They can choose from three categories for admission full time non-sponsored, full time sponsored and part-time candidates. This decision was taken by the PEC Senate at its meeting on October 29.

New Public School clinch basketball title

The cagers of New Public School, Sector 18, clinched the UT inter-school basketall title when they overpowered DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, by a narrow margin of 71-61 here today. In the final, the NPS players gave a tough time to DAV boys who however maintained their poise all through but could not face the onslaught of the NPS team.

Sodomy case: Cop’s dismissal recommended

The district police has asked the Inspector General of Police, Ambala Range, to dismiss Head Constable Bijendra Singh from service. The cop is accused of attempting to sodomise a ten-year-old boy in the Police Lines here on October 26.
