HOSHIARPUR
Rs 23,000 looted: Five persons looted Rs 23,000, two wrist watches, two gold rings and two mobile phones from the Dera Baba Ajay Pal, located on the Tarris road, Talwara, 80 km from here, on Friday night. Mr Harish Kumar, SP (Detective), Hoshiarpur, told this correspondent that the looters entered the dera around 1.00 am posing as policemen.

Duped for sending abroad: Inder Singh of Kaire village and Sukhdev Singh of Budho Barkat in a complaint to the police have alleged that Amarjit Singh and his father Joginder Singh have duped them of Rs 22 lakh on the pretext of sending their sons abroad. They neither sent their sons abroad nor returned the money. The Dasuya police has registered a case under Section 420, IPC against Amarjit and his father.

Booked for cheating: On a complaint by Samitter Singh of Gobindpur Khun-Khun village, the sadar police, has registered a case of cheating under Sections 420 and 120 B of the IPC against Gulwinder Singh, his father Bhagat Singh and mother Surinder Kaur for giving a false matrimonial advertisement in a daily English newspaper. In his complaint Samitter Singh stated that on the basis of the advertisement he married his daughter Kulwinder Kaur with Gulwinder Singh on January 17, 2005.

Annual function: The 33rd annual function of Shri Krishna Bhakti Ashram Mandal will be organised at Shri Mahakali Temple, Sector 30-A from October 10 to 16. A special programme will be organised on October 10 to celebrate sharad purnima. Swami Satya Nand from Delhi, founder president of the mandal Mr Ananteshwar Bali, Mr Ashok Shastri and Mr Nishikant Bali from Canada, will present bhakti sangeet on the occasion.

QUIZ CONTEST: A quiz contest was held at DC Model school. It was held with the help of computer presentation and slides were shown to students through an LCD projector. The Pink House came first.
