Electrocution of six: MC rejects probe report

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has rejected the report of the magisterial inquiry into the electrocution of six persons after two electricity poles fell into Sidhwan Canal, virtually challenging the investigation by a Magistrate on the plea that the inquiry was “not based on the facts”.

One-year jail for keeping pistol sans licence

The Judicial Magistrate, Mr Jaspal Verma, has convicted Ravinder Singh of Hargobind Nagar of illegally possessing a country-made pistol of .12-bore and bullet. He was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment.

Nursery education scheme to be launched on October 2

The state government will launch a special nursery education scheme on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in which training and playway facilities for children in the age groups of three to five years will be provided at 1,700 primary schools in the state.
