Jammu, September 10
Will the former Prime Minister of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Sardar Abdul Qayum Khan, visit here along with the 47 member team of politicians and intellectuals that he is leading to India next week?

The team from PoK is reaching here on September 16 for two days “heart to heart” talks with the politicians and intellectuals of this side of Kashmir.

It is learnt that the visit of Sardar Qayum Khan was not yet certain as he had yet to get clearance from Pakistan. However, he would come to Delhi and also visit the shrine of Khwaja Mohiuddin Chisti at Ajmer. Other members of his Muslim Conference would participate in the seminar that would be held here in camera.

The first-ever visit of the high level delegation from PoK has generated much interest here, but with the organisers of the show deciding to keep the media away, the general public might be deprived of the entire proceedings that would be held in Jammu University.

The Centre has cleared visas for all participants from PoK and Pakistan, except Amanullah Khan, supremo of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

The get together of intellectuals from both sides of Kashmir is expected to be an interesting event as the hardliner separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the Hurriyat leaders have also been invited in the two-day meeting. The National Conference leader, Dr Farooq Abdullah and the PDP chief, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, are among others who are expected to participate in the meeting.

Although various delegations from Pakistan and PoK have visited here during the past few months, this for the first time that an intra J&K talks are being held for the first time.
