EC pulls up Hooda for violating code
Unhappy with Buta Singh over appointments
New Delhi, September 9
The Election Commission today rapped Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for violating the model code of conduct by announcing a girls’ school in Rohtak and expressed “serious displeasure” over the appointments made by Bihar Governor Buta Singh.

Gharwal (Sonepat), September 9
The sarvkhap and the sarvjatiya panchayat today decided to boycott BSP leader Mayawati and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan for allegedly inflaming passions of Dalits after an attack on Balmiki Colony at Gohana on August 31.

‘Material failure’ behind bridge collapse
Army confirms 34 deaths
Kharo (Kinnaur), September 9
Army authorities after roll-call today morning confirmed 34 casualties in the bridge collapse on Thursday here on the national highway-22 while the inquiry team that arrived from the headquarters of Western Command (Chandimandir) has indicated “material failure” behind the incident.

About a month ago, a column of 200 men of the Army led by Lt-Col Amardeep Rana, moved out of Zirakpur, 7 km from here, to reconstruct bridges on the crucial National Highway 22 (Hindustan - Tibet road).
