Blood donation camp at LIC office Chandigarh, September 5 The Blood Bank Society of the General Hospital, Sector 16, conducted the camp under the supervision of Dr M.S. Anand. Mr N.P. Chawla, Senior Divisional Manager, inaugurated the camp along with Mr P.L. Vidyarthi, Marketing Manager. Among 45 donors were employees, agents and policy holders. Two donors, Mr Kuldip Sharma, cashier, and Mr J.S. Sodhi, Development Officer, donated blood for the 28th and 27th time respectively. The donors were presented mementoes by Mr N.P. Chawla. A free health check-up camp for children will be held at Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22-D, here on September 7. |

football finals Chandigarh, September 5 As both the teams ended 1-1 draw in the stipulated time, the tie-breaker rule was applied. Chandigarh netted five goals, while SAI could score four goals and lost the match. In the second semifinal match between DDA, Delhi, and MFA, Kurali, the Kurali team won the match by 1-0 and qualified for the final. The lone goal for Kurali was scored by Mandeep in the 58th minute. The final match will be played between CFA, Chandigarh and MFA, Kurali, at Football Stadium, Sector 17 on Tuesday at 3.45 pm. Cricket team

Chandigarh consolidated its position with 360 runs in the first innings against Minor District Zone A in the first match of the Katoch Shield Tournament for 2005-06, which started at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, here on Monday. After winning the toss Chandigarh elected to field first. Minor District Zone A made 87 runs in 35.4 overs. Gurmukh (24), Jagmohan (15) and Gurbes (13) were the main scorers. Amit Uniyal of Chandigarh claimed 5 wickets for 39 runs. The other wicket takers for Chandigarh were Vipul Sharma (2 for 15) and Asim Gupta (2 for 12). In reply, Chandigarh scored 360 runs for 4 wickets in 56.3 overs. Amardeep Soankar made 147, while Viswas Bhalla scored another century (132). The other contributor for Chandigarh was Amit Uniyal (28). Gagandeep, the left-arm spinner, (2 for 82) and Jagmohan (2 for 60) were the main wicket takers for Minor District Zone. |
