Lok suvidha camp: Ms Jaspreet Kaur, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, has directed that a Lok Suvidha Camp in Amloh Kanungo circle will be organised at Sangam Palace, Gobindgarh Road, Amloh on Thursday. Mr Sandeep Hans, SDM, Amloh, said in a press note issued here on Monday that heads of various departments would be present on the occasion to provide on-the-spot services to the public to eliminate harassment, delays and chances of corruption. Attestation of mutations, issue of SC/BC certificates, affidavits, issue of domestic and tubewell connections, cases of old age pensions, issue of medical check-up certificates, loan cases, issue of learning licences, renewal of arms licences, issue of senior citizen certificates, awareness about subsidy schemes concerned with agriculture, registration of un-employed in the employment exchange, issue of providing tricycles to physically challenged persons, death and birth certificates, verification of grants under Ashirvad scheme and miscellaneous complaints will be taken up during the camp.

Undertrial dead : An undertrial prisoner, Kulwant Singh, a son of Amar Singh of Kamalpur was declared brought dead by the doctors of the local Civil Hospital on Sunday morning. According to police sources, Kulwant Singh complained severe pain in his abdomen and fell unconscious. On seeing his condition the District jail authorities rushed him to the Civil Hospital.Villager assaulted:: Pawan Kumar, a son of Prem Singh of Harwan village, was seriously wounded when Sanjiv Kumar, alias Sanju, Naresh Kumar, Hardev, all of the same village, and Sanjiv Kumar, alias Kaka, of Nainwan P.S. Garhshankar assaulted him. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Garhshankar, from where he was referred to the DMC Ludhiana. The Garhshankar police has registered a case under Sections 308, 323 and 34 of the IPC. MANDI

Blood donation camp: The Lions Club (Nawanshahr City) in collaboration with the local Blood Donors Council and NRIs, Mr Bhagat Singh Atwal (France) and Mr Mohan Singh Kahma (USA), organised a blood donation camp to mark the Independence Day here on Monday on the blood donors complex. More than 100 units of blood was collected. Eye donors honoured: Mr Krishan Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, honoured Mr Swaran Singh, Mr Bachan Singh, Mr Kulwant Singh and Mr Harbhajan Singh, who have pledged to donate their eyes, here on Monday. Life term for murder: The District and Sessions Judge, Gurdaspur Mr Jora Singh, on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to Sunil Kumar Sethi, a local resident, for killing a person with a sharpedged weapon. The convict was also slapped with a fine of Rs 5,000. According to an FIR, Ranjit Suri had stated that on August 12,2001, he along with other relatives were going for some religious function. When they reached near a school, the convict stabbed Sanjiv Kumar. The injured was shifted to the local Civil Hospital where the victim died due to injuries on the vital parts of the body. Pilgrim killed: A pilgrim was killed and another injured when a school bus hit them near Chachrari village here on Monday. According to police sources, Abhishek, the only son of their parents, and Parmod Kumar, residents of Ludhiana, were going back to Ludhiana on their cycles after paying their obeisance at Mata Chintpurni when a school bus hit them near Chachrari village. Abhishek was declared brought dead at hospital. Dental check-up camp: The Phagwara branch of the Indian Dental Association on Sunday conducted a free dental check-up camp for 1,039 schoolchildren of Bhullarai and Atholi schools. Noted dental surgeons, Dr B.M. Ahuja, Dr Amarjit Singh Riar, Dr Paramjit Singh Thind, Dr Paramjit Kaur Saini conducted the camp.
