Chandigarh, July 6 MA II (history) result out:
The result of M.A. II (History) examination conducted by Panjab University in April/May 2005 has been declared. The result gazette will be available at the New Enquiry of the university tomorrow at 10 a.m. onwards and also on all working days. The result will also be available on the university website www:puchd.ac.in and can also be accessed through SMS after 11 a.m. onwards. To know the result through SMS, the candidate should type code No MHIS2, leave one space followed by the roll no and send it at 700. No result inquiry will be entertained on the telephone. Business faculty meeting on July 10:
A special meeting of the faculty of business management and commerce will be held on July 10 at 11 a.m. in the Senate Hall, Panjab University. The main aim of the meeting is to consider the recommendations of the Postgraduate Board of Studies in Business Management and Commerce dated July 8 regarding eligibility conditions for admission, regulations/rules, number of seats, fee structure and outlines of tests. The counselling process in various departments started at Panjab University on a happy note. Though long
queues were witnessed at various departments but everything was managed peacefully. Interviews for MA (English), MA I (psychology), MA I (history), MA I (geography) and LLB were conducted at their respective department. There are 45 seats in MA I (psychology), 120 in MA II (English), MA I (history) 60, MA I (geography) 60 and 300 seat in LLB. PU mows down college claim to BSc course
Chandigarh, July 6
The university reasoned that the permission was denied because the college was very late to apply for the course. However, Mr Pahlad Aggarwal, Principal of the college, said: “We have asked for the permission for this course again from Panjab University. I will have a meeting with a Vice-Chancellor, K.N. Pathak. I am very much sure that we will get the approval very soon. Even Home secretary Krishna Mohan has written a letter to the varsity to grant its approval for the course”. “In the prospectus it was clearly mentioned that this course was subject to the approval of the PU. Our intentions were not to betray the students”, he added. Meanwhile, the admission process continued in the college in humanities, information technology, science, commerce and hostel admission. |
Aspirants reach
colleges despite rain
Chandigarh, July 6 Government College, Sector 11, admitted nearly 440 students in BA (I) with a percentage of above 55 per cent. The total seats are 700. In B.Com (I) all 140 seats were filled. In B.Sc (I) (non-medical) 168 were granted admission against 260 seats while in B.Sc-I (medical) 41 students secured admissions. The total number of seats are 90. In B.Sc I (Computer Science) 51 students were admitted and in BCA (I) 40 seats were filled. For B.P.Ed, 22 students were admitted. At Government College for Girls, Sector 42, all seats for B.Com (I) and BCA have been filled. The college has demanded 10 more seats in BCA and 14 more seats in B.Com (I) from the Vice-Chancellor of PU. In Government College for Girls, Sector 11, all seats in B.Com (I) and BCA have been filled. Only at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 and Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, a few seats are vacant in B. Com (I). |

discuss inquiry report

The inquiry report submitted by the Justice A.L. Bahri committee against Mr R.K. Gupta, former XEN at the construction office, will also be high on agenda. Class XI admissions close in 5 schools
Chandigarh, July 6 While all seats were exhausted in GMSSS-19, 33 and 37 in the science stream, admission to commerce was closed in GMSSS-16 and 35 where all science seats were exhausted yesterday. The cut-off percentage in the science stream in GMSSS-37 was 78 per cent, 77 in GMSSS-33 and 74.8 per cent in GMSSS-19 while the cut-off in the commerce stream at GMSSS-16 and 35 was 77 per cent and 74.8 per cent respectively. A total of 923 admissions were made today. As many as 666 students were admitted to the science stream, while 200 students took admission to the commerce stream, 36 in humanities and 21 students in the vocational stream. With students scoring above 72 per cent being counselled for admission, the shift from sciences to commerce was evident in the fact that a large number of students today opted for the latter in comparison to the pattern of admission in the first two days where students mostly opted for the non-medical stream. A maximum of 149 students was admitted to GMSSS-46, 134 students each to GMSSS-19 and 40 and 82 st dents to GMSSS-18. The counselling of students scoring 65 per cent and above will be held at the venue tomorrow. |

City boy looks for future in tinsel town
Chandigarh boy Ansh Batra is all set to try his fortunes in the world of films. After featuring in over 20 video albums, Batra is now being cast as the male lead in “Kabhi alvida na kehna”, a romantic flick produced by Ajit Singh. Unplanned as his debut in films was, Batra is keeping his fingers crossed. He knows the kind of pressure that works in Bollywood and also the fact that luck works most in the world of glamour. Another cultural bonanza
The ‘Plaza Masti’ on every Wednesday is yet another welcome addition to a series of weekend evening cultural shows sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Chandigarh Administration, in the Sector 17 Plaza, the heart of the city.
The new musical programme ‘Plaza Masti’, henceforth, will be organised by the Chandigarh Institute of Performing Arts (CIPA) in collaboration with the Tourism Department. The maiden performance commercial commenced in a pleasant
atmosphere made livelier after a drizzle. The programme attracted a good crowd which enjoyed folk dances by child prodigies and professional groups. Six-year-old Saurabh Prashar presented a dance on the song ‘Yaar Punjabi.’ Paramdeep Pum, also did a dance item. Five-year-old Prayas, was cheered while dancing on ‘Mundeyan de hostel vich.’ |
