Seminar on AIDS organised
Ludhiana, July 1 Since there is no permanent cure of this disease, prevention is advisable. One should be honest with one’s partner. We should try to make the people aware of this disease. Mr Hakam Singh, Field Publicity Officer, and Mr Amit Khurana also spoke on the occasion. Mr Rajesh Kapoor, secretary of the trust, said today 60 volunteers were trained to make the people aware of the causes of this disease. These people were working in different villages and slums of Ludhiana so that maximum people could be educated. Mr Jatinder Toni, Mrs Anu Kapoor and Mrs Neelam Bhatia were also present on the occasion. |
80 donate blood on CA Day
Ludhiana, July 1 Mr SJS Paul, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, while inaugurating the blood donation camp, appreciated the efforts made by chartered accountants for the society at large. He observed that while CA Day was being observed all over the country, the noble gesture shown by the chartered accountants here was really appreciable. Mr V.K. Garg, Commissioner of Central Excise, lit the lamp at the function and lauded the humanitarian task undertaken by the CAs for the benefit of the suffering people and society at large. Mr Subhash Chander Jain, chairman, Ludhiana branch of the body, hoisted the flag of chartered accountants on the occasion. He expressed his gratitude to Mr Pall, the chief guest and Mr Garg, the guest of honour for sparing their valuable time and making a presence at the blood donation camp to encourage voluntary blood donation. |
City surgeon attends world congress
Ludhiana, July 1 The Congress was attended, among others, by Dr Dubley Johnson, Dr Robicsek and Dr Frazier from the USA,
Dr Chauvad from France and Dr Westaby from the UK. Dr Bedi presented five papers at the Congress, covering different aspects of cardiac surgery. A symposium on the latest and controversial stem cell therapy was also conducted during the
conference. |
Shahi takes over as EO
Samrala, July 1 Earlier, Mr Shahi was posted as EO at Kharar. Talking to Ludhiana Tribune, Mr Shahi said the sewerage work would be his top priority. |
