GGNIMT toppers

Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT) has always been a centre of excellence, where the students are imparted the latest education to help them transform their dreams into reality. GGNIMT has been a successful platform for many students.

Mr Gunwant Singh Dua, co-ordinator GGNIMT, in a press statement today said a lot of students were placed in big corporates and many others were on their way to success by performing well in academics.

Supriya Jain of MBA III and Kawalpreet Kaur of BBA V have secured first position in the exam conducted by PTU. Another GGNIMT student, Kunal Sablok, has brought laurels to the institute by getting the first rank in the entrance test for admission to Master of Computer Application (MCA) programme in NIMCET held for National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Besides this, he has also bagged second rank in Thapar, 7th in Roorkee and 19th in Panjab University entrance test.

Mr Kunal Sablok, who was present in the institute along with his parents, was highly grateful to the teachers who guided him.

On behalf of Khalsa Education Council, Mr Sohinderjit Singh, acting president, KEC, presented a cheque of Rs 5100 to Mr Kunal Sablok for his excellent performance.

Meeting against privatisation

Ludhiana, June 28
The action committee of Government Teachers Union Punjab, and Government Primary Teachers Association, Punjab, held a meeting at Mini Secretariat here today to discuss their line of action for dharnas to be observed against privatisation on July 6 at district headquarters in the state.

The senior teachers present on the occasion expressed their views to make the programmes successful. Teachers were allotted duties for July 6. The teachers alleged that government was trying to divide the teacher community to suppress their struggle but they would not let it happen. The leaders decided to hold another meeting on June 30. City shuttlers reign supreme

Ludhiana, June 28
Pranav Chopra of Ludhiana has made the city proud by winning the National Ranking Tournament. In this tournament held at Cochin last week, Pranav paired with Bob Sharma of Patiala to take part in the doubles (u-13).

In the final, Pranav and Bob prevailed over the duo of Parneet from Andhra Pradesh and Anurag Makkar from Madhya Pradesh to romp home victorious. In the first set, Pranav and Bob gave many anxious moments to their opponents before going down 12-15. In the next set, they reorganised themselves and unsettled Parneet and Anurag and wrapped it up 15-9. The deciding set witnessed some firece battle in which the Punjab pair won 15-9 and also emerged triumphant. Bob Sharma also made it to the semifinal in the singles of the age group.

Pranav and Bob Sharma had finished runners-up in another ranking tournament at Chennai in the second week of June this year. Pranav is enrolled with the badminton clinic being run by the former international stars Udhay Pawar and his wife Sujata Pawar at Mumbai.
