Temperatures fall in Punjab, Haryana

Heat wave conditions continue to prevail in some parts of east Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. It is likely to abate during the next two days.

Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have been reported at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and east Rajasthan. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: East Rajasthan: Dhambola 3, Aspur 2 and Mount Abu and Sagwara 1 each and West Rajasthan: Bikaner, Bhinmal, Lunkaransar and Sanchore 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana, fell in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan and changed a little elsewhere. Departure: This was markedly above normal in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in west Uttar Pradesh, above normal in east Rajasthan, appreciably below normal in Jammu and Kashmir, below normal in Punjab and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 45.2°C recorded at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast valid until the morning of June 15: Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttaranchal. Dust storm/thunderstorm is likely at a few places in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of June 15: Mainly clear sky with dust haze. Dust storm/thunderstorm, accompanied with squall, is likely in some areas. The maximum temperature will be around 40°C.
