Jagtar Singh Hawara, alleged assassin of the then Punjab Chief Minister, Beant Singh, had allegedly hidden much more ammunition than has been recovered by the Punjab police from the Neelon canal.

The police today arrested Balwinder Singh, who had allegedly bought the PMT paper from the peon of the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and sold it off to a number of people in various cities. Dr Vinod Khanna, Nand Kishore, Balwinder Singh and Kamaljeet Singh, held for purchasing PMT paper in police custody in Faridkot on Monday.

CET results leave students fuming

SGPC panel formation illegal: ex-member

The formation of the Dharam Parchar Committee (DPC) of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has come under the scanner even as a former SGPC secretary, Mr Kulwant Singh, has claimed that it was formed in violation of the rules and bylaws of the Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1925.

Rally against govt policies

ASI held for taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested an ASI Piara Singh deployed at Police Chowki, Dhal, in Chamkaur Sahib subdivision, Ropar district while allegedly accepting bribe. The ASI was caught red handed accepting bribe of Rs 2,500 from Karam Singh of Sultanpur village, the vigilance Bureau sources said.
