Satluj Public School win in cricket

Chandigarh, May 26
An all-round performance by Vipul Chadha (3 for 16 and 46) helped Satluj Public School, Panchkula, rout Sri Guru Harkishan Model School-38 by eight runs in the opening match of the ICL Certifications (Under-15) Inter-School Cricket Tournament at the Sector 16 cricket stadium here today.

Sri Guru Harkishan Model School batted first and were dismissed for 120 runs in 29 overs. Extras contributed 38 runs. Satluj school’s medium pacer Vipul Chadha bagged three wickets for 16 runs. Ankur Malhotra bagged 3 for 13. Chasing a moderate total for victory, Satluj Public School achieved their target in 13.5 overs. Opener Vipul Chadha (46) and Rishi Raj (11) gave their team a good start by putting on 47 runs for the first wicket stand. Later, Vipul and Rohit Singh (42 not out) were associated in a 41-run partnership for the second wicket.

The Panchkula boys scored 121 for 2 in 13.5 overs and recorded an easy eight-wicket triumph.

Chandigarh pile up 314 runs

Mohali, May 26
A fine partnership of 90 runs between Simrat Bawa and Karan Sharma enabled Chandigarh District to put on 314 runs against Minor District in Dhruv Pandove (U-19) Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Punjab Cricket Association grounds here today.

After winning the toss, Chandigarh elected to bat first. The team was bundled out in 73.5 overs. At the end of the day Minor District were tottering at 35 for 4 in 21 runs.

Brief scores: Chandigarh Dist 314 all out in 73.5 overs ( Karan Sharma 79, Simrat Bawa 56, Vishal Devraj 38, Pushpinder 3 for 33)

Minor Dist 35 for 4 in 21 overs (Gurman 14, Karanveer 2 for 1, Karan 1 for 17).

The match will resume tomorrow at 7 am.
