Apollo hospital starts OPD

Ludhiana, March 28
Multi-speciality Satguru Partap Singh Apollo Hospital today started its out patient department (OPD) and diagnostic services here while 200 beds, out of the total capacity of 350 beds, will be operational by May.

Inaugurating the hospital chief of the Naamdhari sect Baba Jagjit Singh said with the opening of the hospital, a cherished dream of Satguru Partap Singh, founder of the sect, had been transformed into a reality.

Speaking at the occasion, Director of medical services of the hospital Dr G. Awasthy informed that the diagnostic facilities like 1.5T MRI, multi-slice CT, cath lab, automated clinical lab, TMT, PFT, holter, mammography and colour doppler were operational.

He said the hospital had the best and dedicated doctor to take care of the patients’ needs. The aim of the institution was to give the best treatment of the world standard to the people of the region at an affordable cost.

Pulse polio campaign on April 10, May 15

Ludhiana, March 28
The District Immunisation Officer, Dr Kuldip Kaur Sahni, today asked health and para-medical staff to gear up for the coming pulse polio campaign in the district on April 10 and May 15.

Addressing a district-level meeting of ladies health visitors and auxiliary nurse midwives in the office of the Civil Surgeon here, she emphasised the need for coverage of children in the age group of 0-5 years for administering of booster doses of polio vaccine throughout the district.

Dr Sahni further said no case of affliction with polio had been reported in the district during the current year so far but still there was no room for complacency and efforts had to be made to create awareness.

She said in the course of preparations for the pulse polio vaccination campaign, a workshop would be organised here on March 29 which would be attended by all senior medical officers in the district. Senior officials of the Health Department would address the workshop and take stock of the arrangements being made to make the campaign a success.

Club organises fast walk

Mandi Gobindgarh, March 28
The Gobindgarh Walkers Club organised Fast-Walking Competition on Sunday. As many as 150 men and women of different age groups participated. Mr Raj Bansal an industrialist inaugurated the Mens’ Race at Government Secondary School, Mandi Gobindgarh said Mr Sohan Dhaliwal, press secretary of the club. Function was presided over by club’s Chairman Bhushan Singh Rana.

Persons in the age group between 10 years to 84 years participated in the race. Entry was open for persons below 30 years and above 75 years. Prizes were awarded to winners as under:-

Up to 30 years — Jaswir Singh, up to 35 years Parwinder Singh, up to 40 years Amrik Singh, upto 45 years Balwant Singh Bajwa, upto 50 years Dr Baljit Singh and Harjinder Singh, up to 55 years Daharampal, upto 60 years Baldev Singh, upto 65 years Mehar Chand, upto 70 years Balwant Singh, upto 75 Hardayal Singh and upto 84 years Gurcharan Singh. Women competition was inaugurated by Club’s vice-president Paramjeet Bhatti. Winners upto 30 years Palak Vij, upto 35 Naresh Kumari, upto 40 Swaran Pal Kaur, upto 45 years Anoop Goyal and upto 50 years Gurdev Kaur got first positions. Mr. Deepak Sapra, B.S. Rana and Baljit Singh gave away the prizes.
