100 procurement centres to be set
up
Ludhiana, March 28 Mr Verma disclosed that the FCI would purchase 1.73 lakh MT (20 per cent), Foodsup 1.29 lakh MT (15 per cent), Markfed 1.99 lakh MT (23 per cent), Punsup 1.81 lakh MT (21 per cent), Warehouse 1.04 lakh MT (12 per cent) and Punjab Agro 0.78 Lakh MT (9 per cent) of the produce. In all, 100 procurement centres would be set up in the district. He also added allotment of the procurement centres to the various agencies had been done. The DC said almost all previous stock of wheat had been moved out of Punjab and so agencies had enough space to store wheat. Mr Verma said the arrangements of stock articles had been made and deployment of staff had been done. Labour and transportation contracts for most mandis had been allotted. |
Inter-school declamation contest held
Ludhiana, March 28 Topics were ‘Kishoran Layi Prajnan Sahit Gyan Kyon Zarori Hai,’ Aurtan Da Ghat Da Anupat Sabhya Da Vinash’. As many as 15 students participated in the contest and three students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes namely Deepika Grover from class XII got Rs 300/, Ekta Malik got Rs 200/, Manisha Gulati of class XII Satish Kumar Gulati got Rs 100/-.

Concept of balanced ecology is followed and trees are grown alongside crops Students learn about healthy and natural living. A balance is maintained between computerisation and manual work thereby giving opportunity to manpower to keep pace with the latest technology in the industry. Industrial waste is not discarded in the environment but is recycled. Students were given refreshment. |
Staging of plays marks World Theatre Day
Ludhiana, March 28 Two plays were staged on this occasion. Mr Agyapal Singh, Chairman, Ozo Corporation, was the chief guest at the function. Mr Ashwani Chetley, a theatre artiste and film maker, presided over these productions First play, Ajat Ghar, a Hindi drama by Ramesh Waran Prem, was staged by Rang Manch Rang Nagri under the direction of Trilochan Pansesar. It deals with the plight of common man during communal riots. Performance by Mandeep and Jagjit were commendable. Light and sound effects were impressive. Play was bit long for the theme and repetition marked some of the sequences. Second play, Jaal, a Punjabi drama written and directed by Dr S.N. Sewak, was put up by the Ludhiana Kala Manch. It deals with the exploitation of young women in the changing socio-economic set up where they have to work under trying circumstances. Mili Parmar was superb as protagonist of the play. Ms Amrita Sewak, Swapm Chanana, Rajesh Gadhi, Dr Pritpal Kaur Chahal, Varun and Ajay impressed with acting skill. What made the play really interesting was its structure, which involved the audience. Mr Ashwani Chetley appreciated efforts of the Rang Manch Sansthan in the field of theatre and complimented Ms Amrita Sewak for her long acting career. He promised to present a show in this year with the cooperation of the sansthan. The audience included literary figures like Prof Gurbhajan Gill, Dr Pritam Singh Kambo from London, Mr H.S. Mangat, Mr Ishar Singh Sobti, Mr Gurcharan Singh, Dr F.C. Shukla, Capt Hardeep Kaur Sandhu, Ms Manjit Kaur, Mr G.S. Narula and Mr Trilochan Panesar proposed the vote of thanks. |
