Being vegetarian is healthy
Be a vegan as being a vegetarian gives you more energy. Last year Amitabh Bachchan, the most popular actor of the century, was voted the most popular vegetarian icon. Shahid Kapoor was quite close to him in popularity. Several other stars are giving up meat and turning vegetarian as it is more healthy.
Did you know that switching of each person to plant-based eating habit could save about 2,000 animals? If you love animals, then take an oath, like many others in the city and other parts of the world, tomorrow as March 20 is being celebrated as ‘Meat out Day’ all over the USA and in two dozen other countries, including India. It is world’s largest grassroot diet education campaign. |

Gurdial Singh’s
statue unveiled
Ludhiana,
March 19 Mr Gill urged the people to encourage their children to take part in this game as it was only because of Gurdial Singh’s achievements that this village was famous across the country. He said the Punjab Basketball Association
(PBA) was pursuing an ambitious plan to spot extraordinary tall boys and girls from the rural areas of the state, enroll them with the Baba Lodhiana Basketball Academy being run in Ludhiana, and prepare them to be cagers of national and international repute. Mr Gill further said that the PBA had chalked out a plan to start a Punjab basketball league tournament and also conduct matches between Punjab teams of India and the neighbouring country, Pakistan. This would improve the standard of the game in this region of the country, he added. “There was a dearth of sponsors for the eves teams in this region. This was the main reason that the girls’ team continued to give a poor performance during the past two decades or so, Mr Gill rued. However, we are trying to contact the PSEB, the Railways, private sector banks and other big business houses to recruit promising girls so that they are not bothered about their future, he said. |
