Today's health tip
By Dr G. Dewan, Deputy Medical Superintendent, General Hospital, Sector 16.
Managing sore throat and mild fever: 1. Don’t remove warm clothes and put on air conditioners and coolers or high speed fans in this season as the temperature is fluctuating daily and the night temperature is falling substantially. Special attention should be given to children and their chest area should be kept warm so that they do not catch cold easily. 2. It is advisable if the fans are switched off past midnight. 3. Don’t consume ice creams, cold drinks and other summer delicacies but wait for at least a fortnight to enjoy them. 4. In case of fever, avoid taking antibiotics but take a paracetamol tablet which is effective. Saline gargles twice a day and anti-histamine tablets also provide relief. |
