Protest by CGHS beneficiaries

Chandigarh, March 10
The CGHS beneficiaries serving and pensioners, today staged mass protest at Sector 34 for adding the health care facilities in the CGHS dispensaries. In a representation to the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, the beneficiaries has pleaded the Minister to instruct the dispensaries to refer treatment for indoor treatment of the employees to private hospitals also. According to Mr C.L. Punj, Chairman, Coordination Committee of Central Government Pensioners Association, Chandigarh, the protesters also demanded that doctors be instructed to prescribe costly or imported medicine as in present case, doctors recommend cheap medicines as a result, patients were not cured.

SPORTS

School’s sports day held

Chandigarh, March 10
The budding sports persons of the pre-nursery wing of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, here today showed their prowess when they took part in their sports day. The young ones put up an impressive display of their athletic abilities. They presented action songs and musical drills before the spectators. The children put on get ups of sun flower. The pom-poms they held in their hands dazzled as they danced to their favourite peppy  numbers.

This was followed by races, where the young ones of the school exhibited their skills and ran with zest and enthusiasm.

The principal, Ms Sunita Tanwar, said such sports activities helped in the development of the children’s basic sports skills. She said sports activities, exercises, aerobics and outdoor play helped in moulding a child’s character and in his or her overall development.

Athletics meet begins

Chandigarh, March 10
The two-day annual athletics meet of Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector 26, began here today. Girish Misra, Editor, Dainik Bhaskar, declared the meet open. Dr Baljit S. Kapoor, Principal of the college lauded students for academic and co-curricular achievements. Students of degree and deploma streams took part in events today.

Interview for posts of sub-inspector from March 28

Chandigarh, March 10
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), North-Western Regional Office, will hold interview and medical examination of all the qualified candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector in Central Police Forces Examinations, from March 28 to April 2 and March 29 to April 4, 2005, respectively, at Chandigarh.

The Deputy Regional Director of SSC, Mr N.K. Virdi, in a press note stated that call letters to all the candidates have been dispatched and those not receiving the call letter by March 21, may contact the Deputy Regional Director, Kendriya Sadan, Sector 9 from March 22 to 24, 2005 for duplicate letters.
