Ugly scenes took place at Nauria Mal Jain public school at the Bharat Nagar chowk here and later at the bus stand police post when a class VII student of the school was allegedly beaten up by a teacher, who later also is reported to have manhandled the victim’s father and grandfather.

The accused teacher though admitted that he had slapped the student, Saurabh, once or twice for creating indiscipline. However, he alleged that the student’s parents later attacked him in the school and beat him up.

The police, after listening to both parties, has called them tomorrow for further action. Mr Manmohan Singh, father of the student, said the police was biased in favour of the school staff and did not take their written statement.

The alleged incident took place at about 1 pm when the student, Saurabh, was allegedly beaten up by the teacher, Devinder Kumar. The student was allegedly creating nuisance by sitting in the class, wearing a helmet. He was reprimanded by the teacher and slapped.

Mr Manmohan Singh alleged that the teacher had beaten his son black and blue and there were injuries on his hands and knees. He said when the boy came home and narrated the incident, they were upset and went to the school. They claimed that the teacher and other staff members, however, manhandled them and slapped the boy’s grandfather.

Mr O. P. Arora, Principal of the school, however, said that the student and his parents had attacked the school teacher and also ransacked his office. He said the student was told by the teacher to remove his helmet as it was a classroom. However, when he did not do this, the teacher slapped on his helmet only.
