Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Punjab and at a few places in Haryana and west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Nurpur and Sujanpurtira 2 each and Bangana, Berthin, Baijnath, Bhuntar, Dehragopipur, Guler, Jhandutta, Nadaun and Nagrotasurian 1 each. Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 8, Banihal, Quazigund and Srinagar 5 each, Jammu, Kupwara and Pahalgam 4 each. Punjab: Amritsar 2 and Balachaur, Ludhiana and Nangal 1 each and West Rajasthan: Sriganganagar 1.

Departures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell markedly in Rajasthan, fell appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: These were markedly above normal in Haryana and Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and east Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 5.0°C recorded at Amristar (Punjab) and Udaipur A.P. (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 3: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in west Rajasthan.
