Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Haryana and at isolated places in Punjab and west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Dhundhi and Bhang 1 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Haryana, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh, rose in east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were largely above normal in Rajasthan, markedly above normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Utaranchal, appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and above normal in east Uttar Pradesh. The lowest temperature in the plains was 5.0°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 2: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan and at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh.
