Chemist arrested for selling
spurious medicines

The Kotwali police has booked a number chemists in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and New Delhi on the charges of selling spurious medicines. One accused chemist Rinku has also been arrested.

Ludhiana, November 23
City residents are facing a serious threat to their lives and security following a spate of crime incidents in the city. With over two dozen cases of robberies, snatching, burglaries and thefts apart from the usual car and other vehicle lifting cases reported during the past 10 days only, the residents are looking up to the police administration to provide them a respite. Four persons have been injured, including two with gunshots, while cash and valuables worth over Rs 20 lakh have been lost in these crime incidents.

Dual steel pricing criticised
Ludhiana, November 23
The Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry has criticised the dual pricing system for steel as nowhere in the world such a system exists. Mr P.D. Sharma, president, Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in a statement here today that this was irrational and was a direct favour to the main steel producers.

A bus stop constructed near the Bhaiwala Chowk has been encroached upon by those managing the parking lot in Feroze Gandhi market. Due to this Pakhowal and Jagraon-bound passengers halt either midway on the Ferozepore road or on the Pakhowal road.

Shradha adjudged best athlete

Shradha, a student of BA II, was declared the best athlete in the annual sports and athletics meet organised at Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, Kidwai Nagar here today. She emerged victorious in 400 m and skipping event while finished runners up in the long jump event.
