Sikhs from France to meet SGPC chief today

Even as the deadline fixed by a French court to decide the fate of three Sikh students of a suburban Paris school whether they would be expelled or allowed to cover their uncut hair despite a new ban on religious symbols will end tomorrow, a delegation of Sikhs from France arrived here to make a last ditch effort to pressurise the French Government through Indian Prime Minister and the SGPC.

Verma given warm send-off
Ferozepore SP (Vigilance) not shifted: CM

Chandigarh, November 3
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today denied that the Ferozepore SP Vigilance, Mr Inderjit Singh Randhawa, was transferred to Chandigarh as AIG (Armaments). He continued to stay put there.

Release salaries, orders Singla

Court gives partial relief to liquor contractor

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday gave partial relief to liquor contractor Sanjiv Bhandari when it directed that the contractor whose bid is highest in the re-auction of liquor vends in Punjab would be given the liberty of paying the licence fee in three installments by January 31 as against the earlier decided deadline of December 31.
