Dead man alive in revenue records
Ludhiana, October 25
In an intriguing case, a dead man was allegedly kept alive in the revenue records of Giaspura village falling in the municipal limits of Ludhiana to benefit his relatives in a property dispute case. Babu Singh, a tenant tiller on three acres and six marlas of land worth Rs 5 crore owned by Jagjiwan Singh Gill, died on December 23, 1995.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has found vital leads regarding the bitumen scam involving officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), the Municipal Corporation and personnel of the other departments. Some officials of other departments are likely to be booked by the Vigilance Bureau soon.

Police admits blast in Mukesh Steel Works

Mr D.R. Bhatti, ADGP, laid the foundation stone of green village park at Jatana village yesterday. He also was the chief guest at a seminar on children's’ rights. He suggested ways by which the younger generation could be saved from drug addiction.

Litterateur Chadha dead
Doraha, October 25
Prof I.S. Chadha, a literary personality of the area, died after he suffered heart attack at a marriage party late last night. He was declared brought dead by doctors at a hospital. He was cremated today.

Farmers advised to cultivate hyola
Samrala, October 25
A farmers’ interaction camp was organised at Urna village by the Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation for the cultivation of “hyola” under the contract farming programme in Ludhiana. A large number of farmers from Harion Khurd, Harion Kalan, Balion, Bhagpur Takhran, participated in the camp.

‘Patay Khan’ — a journey down the memory lane
Ludhiana, October 25
Reliving the past once again, “Patay Khan”, a satirical play staged by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop from Pakistan, took the audience into the times of kings and feudal lords who ruled undivided India decades ago. Organised by the Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS), the play was staged at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan last evening.

Neelam Khosla Women bring laurels to city
Ludhiana, October 25
Four city women have done Lidhianavis proud by bringing laurels to the city by participating in Sansui Antakshri Women Special. Out of these four, Mrs Neelam Khosla from Khosla Hospital and Varsha Dhanda were adjudged first runners up in the semifinal round.
