Senior citizen alleges police harassment, writes to President

Even as the Supreme Court has taken up the cause of senior citizens by asking all courts to expedite the cases involving them, an elderly man here is forced to make rounds of a police station to get a case registered against a pick-pocket who was caught by him.

Dal (A) protest at Cong behest, says Badal
Ludhiana, October 23
The Akali Dal (A) is organising protests against the SAD (B) at the instance of the Congress, says Mr Prakash Singh Bada, chief of the Shiromani Akali Dal . Mr Badal told mediapersons here today that showing black flags and organising demonstrations against him and SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur were attempts at weakening the Sikhs.

Yog Sadhna Shivir ends

A ‘yog sadhna shivir’, organised by Punjab National Bank at the Ludhiana Club, Near Rakh Bagh, ended here on Saturday. The camp was inaugurated on October 17. It was held under the supervision of Acharya Arun Kumar of the Rishi Kalap Ashram, Dehra Dun.

1,100 poor girls to tie nuptial knot

Eleven hundred poor girls would tie the nuptial knot at a mass marriage function at Baddowal on October 31. Each of them will be given household items worth Rs 25,000 as gifts on the occasion.
