Namdhari samagam ends

The 100th ‘naan jap paryog samagam at Bhaini Sahib which began in September, concluded today with the marriage ceremony of 45 couples. It was the 100th year of ‘naam simran’ started by Namdhari Satguru Partap Singh.

Widow held with 5 kg of poppy husk

The police yesterday arrested Gindo, a widow belonging to the Sansi tribe, from near the cremation grounds and seized 5 kg of poppy husk from her possession. She has been booked under the NDPS Act.

Scooterist killed, constable booked

On the statement of Mr Sunil Khosla, the police yesterday registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC against constable Nirmal Singh, a driver employed with the Punjab Police.

Karanbir wins gold in shot put

Karanbir Singh won two medals in the annual sports meet of GMT Senior Secondary School, here today. Karanbir clinched shot put and javelin throw titles. Gurinder Singh and Jagdeep Singh finished second and third, respectively.
